Project 7

For project 7, this was a rather lengthy project for me. I started by taking a default synth sound on sytrus and started changing the operator settings untill i liked them. I wanted a very full sound so i put the chorus on 6 and i used 6 operators customized to how i wanted them and then i ran those through 2 different filters, a high pass 2 filter and a low pass. I also had each operator designed to do a certain thing. the first two are just basic filters using a sine wave and a triangle wave. The next two i made custom waves. I wanted a different sound, so for the next one i used a saw wave with the pitch envelope down an octave. For the 6th operator i used a triangle wave that has the pitch envelope up an octave. Next i added some echo to all of these and then made the wave lenth quickly rise and sustain then quickly cut off when the note was ended on the volume envelope. I then put this custom synth through the riff machine. I got alot of riffs that i wasn't happy with, but eventually i used one and started to write the bass line but i couldn't tell which note to use because the riff was completely all over the place. I used another riff that the riff machine made on throw dice. I changed the chord progression by moving sections and deleting others. For the last section of the riff i made that myself to tie it back together. Since i wrote the chord progression, it was easy for me to put in a bassline using the ebass on slayer. I then chopped the bassline. I had to come up with a customized drum beat because i couldn't fin d one to fit my song, so i used a mixture of bass drum, 2 highhats, crash, clap, and snare. I needed a middle section so i came up with some chords and then played them on the piano using the record feature, added a bassline and then a drumbeat similar to the one on the first section except with a different highhat. I added 3 different drum fills from FPC, then a layer of 5 cymbals at the end of the song. I hope you like my song.
